Single Ply TPO Roofing

If you are looking for perfect roofing for your business, then you might want to consider TPO roofing. TPO stands for thermoplastic polyolefin, which consists of a polymer and filler blend that reflects heat and ultraviolet rays very well. It is a single ply roofing system that is very popular in commercial applications. It has been in use since the late 1980s in the US and is sought after for its energy efficiency and ease of installation.

Single Ply TPO Roofing

What is TPO?

TPO is a single ply roof membrane that is installed over top of commercial roof structures. The decking can be made of corrugated steel, foam or roofing boards. TPO is made by taking a roofing resin and mixing with chemicals that give it fire and weather resistance. This resin is then poured over a foam core to create sheets of TP that generally come in rolls.

Additional chemicals can be added to the resin to give the TPO a white color. This color helps to reflect heat, as well as giving the roofing material excellent UV resistance. It can also be useful for an environment where roofing might be exposed to chemicals.

TPO arrives in 12-foot wide rolls that are applied by either mechanically fastening the TPO to the roofing deck (nails) or by using an adhesive that will hold fast to the decking.
